Bariatric Surgery - The Journey to Weight Loss

The first step in any weight-loss program should be gathering information. That's why we encourage you to attend one of our free seminars. You'll have the opportunity to informally meet the surgeon, our staff, learn about the benefits and risks involved in bariatric surgery, and ask questions.

If you're ready to take the next step, contact us to set up a consultation. We'll help you determine whether bariatric surgery is right for you. If you are a candidate for surgery, you'll be asked to:

  • Meet with our nutritionist

  • Undergo a psychological evaluation - either by our expert or by an outside professional

  • Undergo a physical and provide a detailed medical history - this can be handled by your primary care physician or one of ours

  • Attend preoperative classes to help you prepare for the lifestyle changes bariatric surgery requires and to plan for your postoperative changes, including meal planning and exercise

  • Attend postoperative classes and support groups, which we believe is vital for long term success

If you plan to use health insurance to cover all or a portion of your treatment, our insurance specialist will meet with you and help you understand your provider's requirements and assist you with billing and filing claims.
If your insurance plan exclude bariatric surgery, our program coordinator, or insurance specialist, will explain all options of a discounted packages for direct pay. The Chicago Institute of Advanced Bariatrics has arranged for many types of loans with different companes to help you through this process.
