Spyridon Theodorakis, MD, FACS

Spyridon Theodorakis, MD, FACS  is a board certified general surgeon with specialized training in Head and Neck cancer and Surgical Oncology.   He is currently the Chief of Surgery and Director of Surgical Oncology at Weiss Memorial Hospital.  

As a principal investigator in NSABP and NCI trials, Dr. Theodorakis has made significant contributions to the field of surgical oncology.   He has given numerous lectures and presentations on a variety of surgical ... More bullettopics nationally and internationally.

Dr. Theodorakis received his surgical training at Rush Presbyterian Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  He then pursued a dual fellowship in surgical oncology at Tulane University and in head and neck cancer at Roswell Park Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York. 

Dr. Theodorakis is a member of the American Medical Association, Chicago Medical Society, Illinois Medical Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, SAGES, and Society of Breast Surgeons.  In addition, he is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. bullet Less

George I. Salti, MD, FACS

George I. Salti, MD, FACS  is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois, Division of Surgical Oncology. 

Dr. Salti completed his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chicago. He then joined the University of Illinois Residency Program in General Surgery where he also completed fellowship training in Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Salti is interested in the surgical treatment of cancer, including melanoma, sarcoma, bre... More bulletast cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, hepatobiliray cancer, and endocrine tumors. He applies advanced laparoscopic techniques, including the use the da Vinci Robot Surgical system to the surgical management of various tumors.

In addition, Dr. Salti is one of only few surgeons who treat peritoneal carcinomatosis with cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

Dr. Salti is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Rami E. Lutfi, MD, FACS

Rami E. Lutfi, MD, FACS  completed his General Surgery training from the University of Illinois at Chicago; he then pursued additional fellowship training in Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Lutfi's interests include Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric surgery.

As a proctor for the LapBand surgery, Dr. Lutfi trains and certifies surgeons wishing to perform this operation; in addition he was among the first in Illinois to offer the Sleeve Gastrectomy as the newest option in bariatric surgery.

He is the founder and the director of the Chicago Institute of Advanced Bariatrics at Saint Joseph Hospital, and the head of the Mercy Hospital Center for Weight Loss. He works along with full time dietitians, nurses and psychologists to provide comprehensive care for the morbidly obese patients.

Marc A. Adajar, MD

Marc A. Adajar, MD  is the newest member of University Surgical Consultants. Dr. Adajar started his surgical residency training at St. Vincent's hospital in Manhattan, New York; this was at the time of September 11th tragedy. As a house staff at St. Vincent hospital one of the major treatment centers for the victims, Dr. Adajar developed a passion for trauma and acute care surgery. Kathryn Fajardo, MS, RD, LDN

Kathryn Fajardo, MS, RD, LDN

Kathryn is a registered and licensed dietitian. She received her BS degree in dietetics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and then completed her dietetic internship and earned a Masters of Science degree in nutrition from Loyola University, Chicago.  Kathryn works as a specialist in nutrition at the University of Illinois Medical Center, primarily in the Department of Oncology and Hematology.&nb... More bulletsp; She works with patients undergoing all types of cancer therapy including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and stem cell transplantation.  Kathryn is also a clinical instructor for the dietetics program in the school of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois.  She is a member of several professional organizations including the oncology practice group of the American Dietetics Associate and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.  Kathryn is excited to be joining the team at University Surgical Consultants.
